I need to design a machine to dig a hole and analyze the ground in an agricultural field. The machine would be electrical and to be mounted behind a tractor or a pickup.
I need:
- CAD and pdf drawing design of the cases and the moving parts
- Electrical dimensioning of the motors, actuators and sensors needed
- Suggestion of electrical parts and sensors available in the market (note that 12/24 V is best preferred)
- Wiring connections and any eventual part needed
The concept of the machine is to lower to the ground a drill and then rotate the drill while excavating and going lower up to 80 cm more into the ground.
After this and after elevating the drill, in the same hole produced by the drill, an instrument must be lowered to the ground and then up to the 80cm drilled in the ground. And then elevated.
Some notes:
- The unit is thought to be 40 cm elevated from the ground
- The drilling/measurement system with all its moving parts and joints should be able to bear all vibrations and forces related to the operation of drilling and the ground resistance (some parts might be exposed to flexing forces or compressing forces ).
- The deepness of excavation should be settable to various levels.
- The vehicle will not move to help the instrument be in the right position to center the hole
- Consider the presence of an eventual sensor (maybe laser) to help the instrument be placed on the same place of the drill
A thought:
I elaborated a possible system, but it is just an idea and might not be working or be too weak:
- a motor rotating a plate of 180 degrees
- the drill and the measurement system to be placed at opposite points of the plate, so when the motor makes a 180 degree rotation the instrument and the drill touch the same position and the instrument can be lowered in the same hole made by the drill.
- both instrument and drill have linear actuators to lower them into the ground OR the actuator could be above the rotating motor and plate
Another idea could be having a rack horizontally to move instrument and drilling system.
Note that the main problem is having both Instrument and drill to be lowered exactly in the same point and the instrument to fit exactly in the drilled hole.
A final important note:
The system should be made in a way that is ready to be manufactured as a prototype, so all cases and parts design should be feasible to be manufactured or for the parts to be bought.
The drill is something similar to the one in picture (so no need to design or find it in the market , same for the instrument and is not required to design anything about it).
I need the final design in maximum 10 days.
